Prior to this latest win, Asiana took first place in the red wine category in 1997, and the white wine in 1998 and won second place in the overall competition in 2005 - having come in first in the first class and business class wine categories. The chardonnay grapes used to make 2006's award-winning Taittinger Comtes de Champagne bring out champagne's unique delicateness, cheerfulness and elegance.
In addition, the Blandy's 10 Year Old Malmsey MADEIRA wine -- from Madeira Island in Portugal and loved by Napoleon -- won fourth place in the 'Best First Class Fortified or Sweet' category and it also took second place in the 'Most Original First Class Wine List', testifying to the quality of Asiana's First Class wines and its overall wine list. Asiana will continue to serve fine wine to please our passengers worldwide.
